Despite a Memorial Day weekend snowstorm that made Yellowstone look more like winter than spring, the park still saw a 15% increase in visitors from last year.

Yellowstone National Park had 522,450 recreation visits in May 2024, a 10% increase from May 2021, and a 15% increase from May 2023. According to a June 25 press release, the park has racked up 719,127 recreation visits so far this year, up 11% from both 2021 and 2023.

In the past five years, 2022 remains the most visited through May, with 733,471 visits, a couple of weeks before historic floods in the park caused a week-long closure.
