Yellowstone National Park announced road improvement projects for 2024 in an April 18 press release from the park, including work on the Lewis River Bridge and the Yellowstone River Bridge.
The Lewis River Bridge project is about 10 miles north of the South Entrance and South Entrance Road, and involves removing and replacing the Lewis River Bridge. Delays up to 20 minutes are expected along this section. Pullouts and the trail to Lewis River Falls will be closed during the construction.
The Yellowstone River Bridge construction project will take place near Tower Junction along the Northeast Entrance Road. Drivers should expect up to 30 minute delays in this area and are encouraged to check the backcountry report to see if there are any temporary closures of trails.
The YRB project began in 2023 and will conclude in 2026 by replacing the 1961 bridge with a 1,285-foot long, 175-foot high steel girder bridge upstream.
