Bozeman’s Streamline bus service announced it will be offering a special route on Saturday, Aug. 3 following the Sweet Pea parade in downtown Bozeman to connect those in Belgrade and across the valley to the annual festival. The full bus route can be found here.
The Human Resource Development Council, which operates the fare-free bus system, noted the special service is open to SLAM festival-goers as well. All SLAM Festival attendees are encouraged to bring voluntary donations of food, funds and grocery store gift cards that will go toward HRDC’s food bank. Donations will be collected near the SLAM Festival information table upon arrival.
“The rising costs of food and housing have increased the need for our services,” a July 31 press release from HRDC stated. “This past year alone, we’ve seen a 47% increase in new households visiting our Gallatin Valley Food Bank. Our food and nutrition programs are mostly funded by local support. We are proud of the community that allows us to keep up with the growing need for food assistance. Together, we can ensure that no one in our community goes to bed hungry.”
