On March 1, Steve Held announced his campaign for U.S. House seat in Montana’s second congressional district, which borders Gallatin County and accounts for central and eastern parts of the state. He will run as a Democrat.
In a press release from Held’s campaign, he’s described as a fourth-generation Montanan, rancher and businessman.
“Held is running for office to get things done, clean up corruption, pass a farm bill that supports family farmers and ranchers, and be an actual representative for Montanans in Washington, D.C.,” the release states.
Currently, two Republican candidates are in the running for a house seat in the second congressional district: incumbent Rep. Matt Rosendale, and Denny Rehberg.
According to the release, Held’s campaign will focus on supporting family farmers and ranchers, lowering healthcare costs, solving the immigration crisis, protecting Montana’s environment and advocating for tribal nations and Native American communities.
“It’s called the United States of America for a good reason. We respect the Constitution and the rule of law. We aren’t afraid of anything and we’re all in it together. Protect your freedoms by supporting Montana Held,” Held said in the release.
Held resides in Broadus and has two kids, Rikki and Jaeger. Rikki Held was a youth plaintiff in Held v. Montana.
