On Nov. 19, Showdown Montana, a ski area in Neihart, Montana north of White Sulphur Springs, announced that they will delay their original opening date of Friday Nov. 25. The announcement came in a Facebook post in which the resort explained the possibility of opening on Saturday or Sunday.

“With Thanksgiving in the mix, our employees deserve to be able to make a plan and head out and spend some time with their families and a tentative opening makes it very difficult for them,” the resort stated in the post.

Due to forecasts showing a chance of snow on Thursday, the resort is considering a weekend opening and is holding on making that call until later this week.

The resort closed out the post recommending skiers eager to hit the hill to do a snow dance, saying, “The snow gods might just surprise us yet!”
