Four entities are each offering $1,000 rewards for information leading to apprehension of an unknown individual responsible for killing a grizzly bear near Big Sky over Memorial Day weekend.

Hikers discovered the mature male grizzly carcass near Cache Creek and Taylor Fork roads, approximately 14 miles south of Big Sky, off Highway 191. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service; the Montana Chapter of Safari Club International; Defenders of Wildlife in Montana; and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks are offering the rewards for information leading to the perpetrator, according to FWP spokesman Ron Aasheim.

Those with information are directed to call USFWS’ Law Enforcement division at (406) 247-7355, and can make calls anonymously.

EBS will update this story as details become available.
