On Tuesday morning, April 1, a multi-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 191 near Four Corners in Bozeman resulted in two fatalities and five injuries.
Around 6:25 a.m., a GMC Sierra pickup truck was driving south toward Gallatin Gateway when it lost control on the icy highway, began rotating counterclockwise and crossed the center line, according to a press release from Montana Highway Patrol. The truck collided on its passenger side with a separate truck, a Dodge Ram hauling a cement mixer in the northbound lane.
The collision caused the GMC truck to veer off the highway toward its left, continuing into a field east of the highway, coming to rest and catching on fire.

Two of three occupants of the GMC truck were pronounced dead on scene: the driver, a 49-year-old male from Las Vegas, Nevada; and a 22-year-old male passenger from Belgrade. The third occupant, a 24-year-old male from Las Vegas, survived the crash with injuries and was transported to Bozeman Health Regional Deaconess Medical Center.
The Dodge truck suffered relatively minor damage and came to rest on the shoulder of the northbound lane. Four of its five male passengers were injured, all listed as Gallatin Valley residents between the ages of 24 and 36.
Speed was listed as a suspected factor in the crash, according to the MHP investigation.
