BIG SKY – The largest fundraiser for the Big Sky School District promises to be a page out of the history books.
The 33rd annual Ophir Pie Auction, scheduled for Saturday, April 6 at 6 p.m., is a “Roaring ‘20s”-themed throwback to the days of Prohibition.
Raffle prizes include spa packages, fly-fishing trips, jewelry, a helicopter ride and plenty of outdoor gear. The live auction includes a $10,000 wedding photo package from Eye in the Sky Photography, VIP tickets to this summer’s PBR and box-seat tickets to a Seattle Seahawks football game next fall.
A live jazz band will provide entertainment and admission and appetizers are free. There will also be a cash bar and prizes for best couple’s costume.
Proceeds benefit BSSD programs including library enhancements, classroom supplements, a field trip to Washington, D.C. and the ski lesson program. While Big Sky Resort provides ski passes for k-8 students and George and Kym Rapier donated money last fall for high schoolers to receive passes, BSSD and the Ophir School Council provide funds for transportation, ski lessons and staff hours.
