updated: One dead in car accident on Lone Mountain Trail

According to a bystander at the scene, a car traveling up Lone Mountain Trail at around 8:30 a.m. went off the side of the road where there is no guardrail in place. The driver missed a curve, went across the dirt pull off and over a cliff.

Big Sky Fire, Big Sky search and rescue, the Gallatin County Sheriff’s department, and highway patrol reported to the scene of the accident.

Incident commander Seth Barker ordered that no pictures or film be taken of the scene. Highway patrol is still investigating the accident.
