BOZEMAN – Bozeman residents will be treated to a show of cycling prowess at a criterium around Beall Park—the newest addition to the annual Tour de Bozeman cycling stage race. The two-day cycling event features three stages: A 70-mile road race in Bridger canyon; a race against the clock along the Gallatin River in Gallatin Gateway, and a fast-paced criterium—including two kid’s races—around historic Beall Park in Bozeman’s downtown corridor.
With a cash purse of $5,000 and stunning race venues, Tour de Bozeman attracts riders from across the West and provides Bozeman cycling fans with a chance to see and participate in the passion and drama of road racing.
Tour de Bozeman kicks off with the Battle for Battle Ridge, a rigorous 70-mile road race spanning Jackson Creek, Bridger Canyon and the Shields Valley. The race starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, from the Bridger Bowl access road and finishes at Ross Peak Ranch Subdivision north Bohart Cross Country Ski Area.
Saturday starting at 6 p.m., riders will test their speed and staying power with a 15-kilometer time trial—a race against the clock—beginning in Gallatin Gateway and heading south along the Gallatin River.
A crowd-friendly and fast-paced criterium—a format in which riders race a closed loop with fast, tight corners—around Beall Park will round out the event on Sunday, July 8. Five separate categories will race between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., in addition to two kid’s races over the noon hour. A final awards ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. in Beall Park.
Tour de Bozeman is a project of the Gallatin Valley Bicycle Club and four Bozeman cycling teams: Gallatin Alpine Sports/Intrinsik Architecture, Bozeman Masters Velo, Team Rockford/Clif and Team Muleterro. All members of the public are invited to attend.
Megan Paulson is the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Outlaw Partners.
