The aurora borealis will be visible from much of North America, including Montana, tonight, May 10 due to a strong geomagnetic storm, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Space Weather Prediction Center. The SWPC issued a rare G4 watch, which has not been issued since January 2005. Suggested viewing times are between midnight and 3 a.m. when light pollution is lowest. Better news for those in southwest Montana – the forecast calls for clear skies, increasing night owls’ chances of catching the phenomenon.
