Starting tonight, Sept. 30, the League of Women Voters and the Bozeman Public Library will host candidate and ballot initiative forums into the first week of October. According to a Sept. 27 press release from the City of Bozeman, the forums are free and the public is encouraged to attend to learn about candidates for the 2025 legislative session, County Commission, a local Safety Levy and two statewide ballot initiatives.
“The non-partisan events are meant to be informational and educational meetings leading into the upcoming election held on Tuesday, November 5,” stated Beth Boyson, adult programming librarian at BPL. Questions from the public are welcome during each session and meetings will be recorded and made accessible by KGVM FM 95.9 Gallatin Valley Community Radio and BPL’s YouTube page.
Tonight at 5:30 p.m., Montanans for Securing Reproductive Rights will discuss ballot initiative CI-128 with former state legislator Tom Burnett presenting an opposing viewpoint.
On Tuesday, Oct. 1, candidates for Montana House Districts 67 and 68 will meet at the Belgrade Community Library from 6:30 p.m., followed by Gallatin County Commission candidates meeting the next day at the Bozeman library at 6 p.m.
Folks can stick around for a discussion of ballot initiative CI-126 at 7 p.m. with Montanans for Election Reform.
Next week, LWV and BPL will host Oct. 7 sessions with Montana house district 57, 59, and 66 candidates at 5:30 p.m. followed by a discussion about the City of Bozeman First Responder Levy and Fire Station 4 bond at 6:45 p.m.
Lastly, candidates for Montana House Districts 63 and 64, as well as Montana Senate district 33 will meet at 5:30 p.m.
Learn more about each event at the LWV website.
