Montana State University’s Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering will host its annual Shadow Day events on Oct. 16 and 17. High school students interested in engineering, computer science and/or Army and Air Force ROTC programs are encouraged to RSVP to participate in one or both events.
ROTC programs will be featured on Wednesday, Oct. 16, with Army ROTC events held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Air Force ROTC events from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Participating high school students will be paired with a Bobcat student cadet and learn about the opportunities ROTC has to offer. To register for Army and Air Force ROTC Shadow Day, visit montana.edu/airforce/shadow-day-rsvp.
High school students interested in engineering and computer science should register for the Thursday, Oct. 17 event. Participants will be paired with an engineering or computer science student. Events will simulate the college experience and how learning happens at MSU. Activities will include shadowing a college student, interactive activities and immersive experiences hosted by college faculty. To register, visit the engineering Shadow Day signup page or the computer science signup page.
Jennifer Clark, assistant dean for student success and retention in the engineering college, said Shadow Day helps provide resources for rural high school students who are interested in engineering and computer science.
“This event allows us to use current experts to demystify what engineering and computer science really are,” she said. “We are able to do this for high school students who are really looking at exciting futures. There’s a lot of opportunity through engineering and computer science.”
