Montana Public Radio at University of Montana is launching a new podcast that explores the relationship between human psychology and the climate crisis, posing the question: How do we remain grounded amidst growing climate anxiety?

“Grounding: Conversations on Mental Health and Mother Earth” is hosted by Sarah Aronson, a climate-aware psychotherapist and member of the Climate Psychology Alliance North America. The first episode, “Heat,” will air at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 7 followed by three more episodes in the following weeks: “Air Pollution” on July 14; “Youth” on July 21; and “Caregivers” on July 28.

“Outside of the MTPR studios, I work as a therapist listening closely to the concerns of others,” Aronson said in a press release from UM. “When the wildfires of 2017 broke air-quality monitors in Northwest Montana, I started hearing about how the smoke was affecting people’s moods, behaviors, relationships and even their sense of existential security. Since then, I’ve wanted to know: What are the psychological impacts of the climate crisis? How can we adapt and cope – both individually and collectively?”
Listen on the radio, online at mtpr.org and wherever podcasts are available. The trailer for “Grounding” is online.
