Lone Peak High School’s student council and the American Red Cross are hosting a blood drive at the high school gym on Thursday, March 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Students and community members are encouraged to participate. All blood donations will be donated to the Bozeman Health Big Sky Regional Medical Center to help treat patients.
About two months ago, senior Finn McRae, vice president of student council, and student council member Libby Coltea, also a senior, began communicating with the American Red Cross to organize the blood drive.
Lone Peak’s student council organizes a blood drive every year as a way to give back to the community. “We wanted to continue the tradition,” McRae said.
American Red Cross coordinator Thomas Hensely helped the students pick a date, advised them on how to advertise the event and organize the donation with the hospital.
On the day of the event, student council members will be on rotating shifts to assist the American Red Cross by welcoming donors, providing information and offering snacks for participants after their donations.
McRae encourages donors to make an appointment beforehand by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (733-2767) or online at redcrossblood.org.
