Bozeman’s Human Resource Development Council recently opened its HRDC @ Market Place at 206 East Griffin Drive in Bozeman, offering resources to reduce hunger and food insecurity in the Gallatin Valley. According to HRDC’s website, the building is not only a grocery area but also has a warehouse for emergency food storage, a kitchen, a pay-what-you-can restaurant and enrichment and education spaces.
Customers can go to Market Place to learn about available resources for their needs.
“Customers then learn about and have access to the full scope of services available to help mitigate tight budgets and to avoid or eliminate crises,” HRDC’s website stated.
The building does not have a shelter, though HRDC plans to open one next year.
Homeward Point to become HRDC’s year-round shelter
According to reporting by KBZK, HRDC collected data on the homeless population in Bozeman and found that the city is experiencing its highest rate of homelessness ever—more than 300 do not have stable housing.
HRDC will open a year-round shelter called Homeward Point on the same lot as the Market Place in 2025. HRDC’s website describes Homeward Point as a carefully thought-out space for community members in need. The facility uses a “trauma-informed point of view and includes dedicated space for families,” HRDC stated. The separate entrance will be for family dedicated spaces.
The building will include offices so that staff and community partners can provide immediate assistance in crisis situations. Those using the shelter will also be offered other resources to help them move forward with more stability.
