Big Sky Fly Fishing Festival set for July 26-27
BLUE WATER TASK FORCE
BIG SKY – It’s time to celebrate one of Montana’s premier outdoor activities.
The Big Sky Fly Fishing Festival is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, July 26-27. Family-friendly festivities kick off Saturday with a fundraising barbeque, wine, music and silent auction to benefit Blue Water Task Force.
The Hooked on the Gallatin Banquet/fundraiser, which starts at 6:30 p.m. at Gallatin Riverhouse Grill, will include wine from Natalie’s Estate Winery as well as bluegrass and folk music by Montana Exit.
The festival continues Sunday with an outdoor celebration at Town Center Park in Big Sky with fly-casting clinics, product demonstrations, fly-tying clinics, and kids activities including a scavenger hunt, among others. Blues musician Erik Ray will perform and Lone Peak Brewery will be pouring the new BWTF beer, Riparian Red. The event runs from 12-4 p.m.
Following the outdoor festival, Lone Peak Cinema will host the F3T Fly Fishing Film Tour, with a series of short fly-fishing films from around the globe. Tickets include a draft pour of Riparian Red and showtimes are 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
All proceeds benefit BWTF, a Big Sky-based nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting public stewardship of aquatic resources in the Gallatin River watershed.
