The Big Sky Skating and Hockey Association (BSSHA) is gearing up for the second season of hockey and skating in Big Sky. This season comes with the exciting additions of a larger second rink for open skating, a full size Zamboni for ice maintenance, and lighting on both rinks to allow skating after dark. The organization could not operate without the help of volunteers, and on Saturday Oct. 15 the BSSHA asks for your help at a board-raising party to put up the hockey boards before the snow starts flying.
The board raising party will take place in Town Center Park, in front of Center Stage from 9 am until early afternoon. Drop by for a few hours or stay until the boards are up. Please remember to bring gloves, boots, warm clothes, a hat, and rain gear if necessary.
This season’s schedule will be released soon and will include pickup hockey for adults and youths as well as a broomball league and open skating. The BSSHA asks that skaters purchase a membership to skate or play hockey. More information on membership will be available at the board raising party on the 15th and can be found on their website, bssha.blogspot.com.
The BSSHA would like to thank the Yellowstone Club Community Foundation (YCCF) for their generous support of skating and hockey in Big Sky and the many people who volunteered and donated last season. Without the YCCF and community members’ support, the organization could not exist.
With your help on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 15 at the annual board raising party we will be well on our way to enjoying another season of skating in Big Sky! Email bigskyice@gmail.com for more information, or check them out on Facebook.
