BIG SKY – After its opening at Harvard University in November, the Blokadnitsy Project is coming to the Warren Miller Performing Arts Center in Big Sky on Sunday, Feb. 16.
The Blokadnitsy Project, Survivors of the Siege of Leningrad, is an exhibition by photographer Jill Bough featuring a photographic compilation of twelve female survivors of the Blockade of Leningrad, as well as hand-created art books revealing the women’s stories.
Based on material gathered through interviews with the women in their homes, the work brings forth ideas about relationship between memory and history, artifacts as symbolism, and the experience of encounters as art itself.
The opening reception will take place at 5 p.m. with wine and apps followed by a 30-minute presentation by Bough about the women and their stories. Visit jillboughphoto.com and warrenmillerpac.org for more information.
