For the next two to four weeks, the parking lot at Big Sky Thrift will be closed due to construction. The store will remain open during regular hours and can be accessed on foot via the bike path along Montana Highway 64 (Lone Mountain Trail).
The temporary closure is caused by the installation of a water and sewer line that will service the adjacent RiverView apartments, a 97-unit, 387-bed workforce housing complex being constructed in partnership between Lone Mountain Land Company and the Big Sky Community Housing Trust. This phase of construction that affects Big Sky Thrift’s parking lot is expected to wrap up in March.
“Donations will be accepted via pedestrian access only as there will be no area for vehicle stopping or drop off while work continues on the water/sewer line,” a Feb. 26 Big Sky Thrift press release stated.
Big Sky Thrift remains open during regular hours, Wednesday through Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. The volunteer-operated store is always accepting support through the Volunteer Big Sky website.
Using store revenue from its first year of operation, Big Sky Thrift will donate a total of $157,500 to local nonprofits. The nonprofit shop awarded $75,000 in grants in December, with plans to grant another $82,500 in June.
On Sunday, March 3, Big Sky Thrift will host its annual Retro Ski Fashion Show fundraiser at Tips Up from 4 to 6 p.m. Attendance is free and will include a DJ, photo booth and après party, with items for sale after the fashion show.
