On Saturday, Feb. 3, Backcountry Film Festival will screen selected films at the ELM theater starting at 7 p.m. The event is organized by Montana Backcountry Alliance, Winter Wildlands Alliance and Logjams Presents.
WWA describes the event as a “collage of human-powered stories and backcountry-inspired experiences” on its website, and in its 19th year of running, the festival is expected to inspire action and conversations.
“The 19th Annual Backcountry Film Festival is screening documentaries and ski movies about athletic pursuit in the mountains, artistic vision, friendship and how the snowsports community is adapting to a changing environment,” the WWA states on its website.
Included in the lineup are films about how a woman navigates grief through skiing, how wildfires create new paths in the winter and the indigenous history of a famed mountain.
