ARTS COUNCIL OF BIG SKY

The Arts Council of Big Sky is hosting a pint night and pop-up reception supporting local photographer Teddy Banker, titled Riverscapes: Unseen Universe, at Beehive Basin Brewery on Monday, June 24, from 5-8 p.m.

This event is a fundraiser to benefit the Arts Council’s new pedestrian tunnel mural project, which is underway and will be completed in summer 2025. There will be a silent auction for Banker’s photographs which will be on display, with a percentage of sales being donated to help fund Big Sky’s first large-scale outdoor mural by Montana artist Stella Nall. The mural will be in the tunnel under Montana Highway 64 (Lone Mountain Trail at the intersection of Little Coyote Road). A portion of each pint purchased will also be donated to the mural project.

Teddy Banker is a photographer and filmmaker living in Bozeman. With an affinity for natural spaces, Teddy prioritizes spending as much time as he can outside, hoping to reveal nature’s most intricate landscapes through his lens. Teddy studied film and photography at Montana State University, and has worked on commercial, documentary and experimental projects.

Stella Nall is a Montana based multimedia artist and poet from the Úuwuutasshe (Greasy Mouth) clan of the Apsáalooke (Crow) Tribe. Her Crow name is Bisháakinnesh (Rode Buffalo) and was given to her by Ronnie Yellowmule. She graduated from the University of Montana in 2020 with a BFA in Printmaking, a BA in Psychology and a minor in Art History and Criticism. She now lives in Missoula, where she is represented by Radius Gallery. Her work may be viewed as murals across Montana, as well as in national public collections, including The Montana Museum of Art and Culture, The Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, and The IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts.

Since 2016, the Arts Council of Big Sky has become the steward of 11 outdoor sculptures and more than $1 million in art assets for the community. The entire collection consists of artworks donated by artists, private citizens and through generous contributions from businesses and individuals. The Arts Council’s goal is to enrich the Big Sky experience by showcasing artwork of accomplished artists with a special emphasis on local and regional artists of merit.
