Park crews extinguish four fires caused by lightning in past week

EBS STAFF

Yellowstone National Park reached “Very High” fire danger level Thursday afternoon. Over the last week, crews have extinguished four wildfires caused by lightning in the park.

The National Park Service describes “Very High” fire risk as a condition where fires can catch from all possible causes, and control of fires becomes very difficult. Under this risk level, outdoor fires are not recommended.

So far in 2024 Yellowstone has had five wildfires, all of which are controlled or extinguished.
