On April 24 at 6 p.m., Dr. Krishna Rupavatharam will discuss photons and their diverse application to science and innovation at the Museum of the Rockies as part of the Science Inquiry Series. Dr. Rupavatharam is the director of Montana State University’s Spectrum Lab and his talk is titled “Telecommunications to Teleportation: Making Light Work.”
“Rupavatharam will share will share his experiences in photonics—the science of light—and how it can be manipulated for applications ranging from remote sensing and holographic imaging to quantum teleportation and communication,” according to a March 21 press release from Gallatin Valley Friends of the Sciences.
Dr. Rupavatharam has a Ph.D. in optical physics from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India and has since worked in the Lund Institute of Technology in Sweden and presently at MSU Spectrum Lab. He also serves on the board of directors for the Montana Photonics and Quantum Alliance.
All Science Inquiry Series talks are free and open to the public. The events are sponsored by Gallatin Valley Friends of the Sciences and Hopa Mountain, and are hosted by Museum of the Rockies. A Q&A session will follow Dr. Rupavatharam’s presentation.
