When the weather grows colder and hunting season begins, protecting dogs from being mistaken for game is a priority for 406 Dogs in Orange.

The organization provides  free orange bandanas to dog owners across the region to make sure they can be identified as companions and not potential game. “Whether you’re in the mountains hiking and backpacking, fishing the river, or doing some early-season backcountry skiing, make sure your dog is wearing orange,” the Dogs in Orange website stated.

Several places in Gallatin County have stocked up on the free bandanas so that owners can pick them up at their convenience. Many of the locations restock on Fridays. These include:

  • Alpenglow Animal Hospital
  • Bark City Doggy Daycare
  • Baxter Creek Vet
  • Black Dog Vet
  • Bozeman Dog Co.
  • Bridger Animal Nutrition
  • Cottonwood Vet
  • Gallatin Vet Hospital

For those who can’t pick up the bandanas in person, Dogs in Orange will ship at a flat rate $5.
