Many businesses in Big Sky closed early on Thursday afternoon when down trees over a power line in Gallatin Canyon left the area out of power for several hours.
According to a Northwestern Energy spokesperson, several crews were out patrolling and clearing the line, but high winds made it hard to access certain places near Spanish Creek.
The line running from Ennis to Big Sky was also down earlier in the day, she said. That line runs through the Lone Mountain substation, and provides most of Big Sky’s power. Livingston also had a pole blown over.
